Spring Break: it’s what college students look forward to from the first day of the term. People will be heading off to the beach, the ski slopes and just about everywhere else imaginable. This year, (the Counseling Center and FAU GAMMA) are helping students to “Know Boundaries” by encouraging students to know that you have the power to make responsible decisions, know who you are partying with, know where your drink has been, know that you can call a taxi for a safe ride home, know your sexual boundaries, and know your limits for exposure!
The Safe Spring Break Campaign, a national program of The BACCHUS and GAMMA Peer Education Network, is a chance for Florida Atlantic University students to get ready for Spring Break and learn how to have all the fun they want without engaging in high-risk activities such as impaired driving, alcohol abuse, and unsafe sexual decisions.
The main goal of the Smart Owl: Safe Spring Break Campaign at Florida Atlantic University is the get students to sign the Safe Spring Break Pledge and to reinforce the norm that the majority of students at FAU are making healthy choices. By making the pledge, students promise not to drink and drive, not let their friends drink and drive or ride with an impaired driver. This national campaign is sponsored by InterCollegiate Communications and one lucky student who takes the pledge and has their name drawn will win a brand new Jeep Wrangler!
