Do psychic powers really exist? What do tarot cards actually reveal? Many people ask themselves these questions before deciding to pay ten dollars or more for a psychic reading, but on Wednesday, October 30, FAU students had the opportunity to obtain a free psychic reading.

Many students waited in line in the Breezeway for prognostications. Some were anxious, while others were a bit nervous. “I’m just afraid of what I might get on the tarot card,” said one student.

Male and female psychics gave readings, reading the tarot cards and concentrating solely on their subjects as they made their predictions. George Tucker, one of the psychics, explained the purpose for psychic readings: “There are things which people are unaware of which we can uncover for them.”

Most of the readings concerned the future and personalities. One person said, “The psychic told me that I needed to use more of the Taurus in me. She also told me that I would never have money problems and that money would always come easy to me.”

Some students questioned the content of their readings, not actually taking their psychic readings seriously. “I don’t really believe in this stuff. I just did it because I was curious. Most of the things he said could have been true for anyone,” said Ryan Meyer.

But other students believed their readings to be true. “I asked her to tell me general things, and she did say things that were surprisingly true,” remarked Stephanie Quillec. “It was fun, and it was nice because it was free, so there was no way you could feel ripped off.”

Whether students believed their readings or not, they were glad they saw a psychic. When asked if they would soon see another psychic after their initial experience, some said that they would wait until next year when they wouldn’t have to pay a ten-dollar fee.
