Looking for that special film at a time when there is nothing in theatres worth watching? Serving Sara is a romantic comedy starring Matthew Perry (“Friends”) as Joe, Elizabeth Hurley (Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery) as Sara Moore, and Vincent Pasitore (“The Sopranos”) as Tony.
The movie is about two process servers sent to serve divorce papers to Sara Moore. Since Joe wants to be with Sara, he sends the other server, Tony, on a wild goose chase. After Joe serves Sara with the divorce papers, the two learn that her husband, Gordon (Bruce Campbell), is trying to sell his business to make more money and keep the marital assets from Sara.
Joe and Sara agree to serve Gordon with divorce papers for one million dollars, before the sale takes place. The only two to stand in their way is Tony, who has orders to make sure Sara is served with divorce papers before her husband, and Vernon (Terry Crews) who is to make sure Gordon is not served at all.
The movie is filled with sexual situations and mature humor. Joe tries to get Sara to sleep with him throughout the movie, but Sara wants to stay faithful to her husband, even though Gordon is trying to get a divorce. All Sara wants to do throughout the film is take an old fashioned bath, and all Joe wants to do is watch.
There are some good comedic segments from Cedric the Entertainer (Kings of Comedy) and veteran comedian Jerry Stiller (“The King of Queens”). Hurley’s acting ability has gotten a lot better since her debut in Austin Powers and she was perfect for the part. Anyone could have played Perry’s part, though.
I give the movie 3 hoots out of 5.
