Men’s basketball Head Coach Sidney Green has signed a new contract with Florida Atlantic University announced the FAU Sports Information Department.

Green became Florida Atlantic’s fourth head coach in March 1999. The 10-year NBA veteran began his efforts and accepted the task of taking FAU to the next level. A level achieved during the 2001-2002 season, which saw the Owls post a 19-12 record and advance to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the program’s short 13-year history.

The team will begin their 2002-2003 season later this fall.

Florida Atlantic University’s women’s basketball head coach and the Athletic Department has announced Jennifer Olson and Sharia Young have signed National Letters of Intent to play basketball at FAU next season.

The addition of Olson and Young brings to four the number of players signed by FAU this past year. In the fall, Dugan was able to ink Trineca McCleod (6-0, F/C, Pompano Beach, FL) and Shontavia Williams (5-9, G, Miami, FL).

The Lady Owls will begin their 2002-2003 season later this fall.

The Athletic Department will host the second annual FanFest, 9:30 am – 2 p.m., Saturday, August 24, 2002.

Fans and friends of the program are invited to open the morning with a 2002 football team autograph session. The head coaching staff will be present with representatives from their teams for a meet and greet session as well as time for question and answers.

For the younger fans, a mini-carnival will be held along with free food and drinks.
