Set in Alaska, this chilling suspense thriller features impressive and eclectic stars such as Al Pacino, Robin Williams, and Hillary Swank. They illuminate this twisted tale told in the 24-hour daylight of the Alaskan summer.
Insomnia plagues Pacino’s character, a hot L.A. detective named Will Dormer, who is sent to help local detective Ellie Burr, played by Swank, crack the case of a teen’s untimely death. Mayhem ensues as Pacino accidentally shoots his own partner, an incident spied by Williams’ lunatic character Walter Finch. Finch uses the juicy revelation to bait and blackmail Pacino.
An edgy cat-and-mouse game follows as Williams, the personification of iniquity, delivers a smooth brand of evil. Definitely not a formulaic flick, it is easy to see why these stars have already won Academy Awards.
