Professors Receive Awards
Dr. Spyros Magliveras, professor of mathematics in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at
Dr. John Neumeier, an assistant professor of physics in the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science, was named Distinguished Teacher for 2001-2002 at University Convocation last month. University Researcher of the Year awards went to Dr. Jie Wu, professor of computer science and engineering; Dr. James Wetterer, associate professor of biology in the Harriet Wilkes Honors College; and Dr. Alexander Leonessa, assistant professor of ocean engineering. Dr. Robert Taylor, professor of accounting, was presented the Degree of Difference award from the FAU National Alumni Association.
An evening reception and a breakfast meeting for government officials, FAU alumni and the students were hosted by the Office of Alumni Affairs and Student Government. President Catanese, Senior Vice President for University Advancement Carla Coleman, Director of Governmental Relations David Mann and Alumni Director Pat Breman were among University administrators in attendance.
