Safeguard Your Textbooks with Operation Bookmark

Published: Tuesday, January 12, 2010

Updated: Tuesday, January 12, 2010

Once again this semester, the FAU Police Department is sponsoring a program called Operation Bookmark, which is aimed at deterring textbook theft. Community Service Officers will be at the bookstore on the Boca Raton campus from Monday, Jan. 11, to Friday, Jan. 22, and at both the campus bookstore and the Booksmart store on Glades Road from Tuesday, Jan. 19, to Friday, Jan. 22.

Anyone purchasing a textbook will be invited to have the inside front cover stamped with an information block that identifies the owner of the book and provides contact information. When the book is sold at the end of the semester, the bookstore clerk will be able to verify that the seller is the true owner by matching the seller’s ID with the data in the information block. If someone other than the owner tries to sell the book, the FAU Police Department will be notified. This is a free service.
