James Gurney's Dinotopia'

James Gurney, author of Dinotopia, paints fantastical landscapes of a
world in which humans and dinosaurs live side-by-side. The exhibit is
featured at the Norton Museum in West Palm Beach from June 5 through
September 5. The UP got a chance to see some of Gurney's work. For more

New Student Body President Ayden Maher

New student body president Ayden Maher speaks to students about himself
and FAU's parking situation, as well as how students should get involved in Student Government.
Maher wants students to understand that his office is always open to suggestions.
According to Maher, his term in office begins May 8.

FAU Veterans Club

The mission and purpose of the Military Veterans Club at FAU is to provide support
and assistance to veterans in making a successful transition into the academic community.
The club consists of veterans who are committed to working with FAU
administration to promote a welcoming environment for veterans.





Recreation Center

UPTV covered the March 1 expansion of the Boca campus’s
Recreation and Fitness Center with the grand opening
of its new swimming pool.







Relay for Life

Relay for Life is an annual charity event where schools and businesses get together,
tay up all night, and run or walk for cancer awareness. UPTV covered FAU's participation
on March 19 and 20.







Simulation Center

In March, students demonstrated how they use lifelike mannequins to learn medical techniques.
The students showed Owl TV, in association with UPTV, the techniques
that are practiced in FAU’s Simulation Center, where the mannequins
emulate human medical emergencies.







Brother Micah

Brother Micah is a preacher who visits college campuses to preach about Christianity.
On March 1, Brother Micah and his follower,known as “Brother Mark,” spoke
about religion on the Free Speech Lawn in front of the Social Science Building on the Boca campus.







Dalai Lama visits FAU

On Feb. 24, the Dalai Lama came to FAU in conjunction with Expressions of Peace Week,
a nine-day long series of events that included a tree-planting ceremony, dance performances, and documentary
showings all focusing on peace. He gave a lecture on “Compassion as a Pillar of World Peace.”
Students won tickets to the lecture in a lottery.







Who? The Dalai Lama?

The Dalai Lama is the spiritual and political leader of Tibet.
In February, he visited FAU to give a lecture on compassion.
UPTV asked FAU students who they thought the Dalai Lama was

Jagged Edge

In order to raise money for Tents for Haiti, an organization that donates tents
to the Haitian people, OWL Radio hosted a meet-and-greet
with R&B group Jagged Edge.







Sexually healthy

FAU has been named the fifth most sexually healthy university in the U.S.
by Trojan Condoms. UPTV reported on FAU's sexual health programs.
