Even if the commercials featuring "Dancing Queen" and "Mamma Mia" drive you up the wall, the film Mamma Mia spaces out the ABBA songs just enough to make them enjoyable. This is particularly impressive since the songs weren't written for the movie or the play that it's based on; rather, the script was written around the songs.

The movie tells the tale of a young woman who tries to find her father right before her wedding. Unfortunately, it could be one of three men: an American architect who can't sing (Pierce Brosnan), a British banker who is no longer into women (Colin Firth), and a hippie who lives on a boat (Stellan SkarsgÄrd). Given the choices, it's not looking too good for Sophie, the bride-to-be played by Amanda Seyfried.

If Seyfried looks familiar, it's because she played the anything-but-bright member of The Plastics in Mean Girls. Luckily, she looks different enough in this film - even though she may have only curled her hair - that her character can be taken seriously.

Like with many chick flicks, the ending is a total cheese-fest, full of good feelings and mushiness. If you're not into that sort of thing, though, the film may still be worth the watch, even if only to snicker at Brosnan's musical numbers - really, there's nothing like hearing the former 007 painfully belt out a tune.
