The Port St. Lucie campus’s 31,432-square-foot multipurpose building was constructed in 2008 thanks to state funds received by FAU during former FAU President Frank T. Brogan’s term. The facility — which includes classrooms, faculty offices, Student Government, the University Police, and the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities — opened for use in January 2009.

The Louis and Anne Green Memory and Wellness Center moved to a new facility in 2004 after the Greens donated $1.5 million that was matched by the state. The two-building facility, a state-designated memory disorder clinic that is part of the College of Nursing, conducts research into memory disorders like Alzheimer’s disease and also runs a day center for patients suffering from such disorders.

YEAR IN REVIEW

In 2009, FAU lost its president of six years when Frank T. Brogan became the chancellor of Florida’s State University System. But before leaving his post as the head of his alma mater, Brogan did what any good president does: raise money.

Between January and September of last year, Brogan raised $8,229,000 for the school. That money was only 6 percent of the total $126,177,000 that Brogan raised during his presidency.

Now, as the chancellor, Brogan is responsible for overseeing Florida’s 11 public universities. Although he has moved on to Tallahassee, he left behind a legacy at FAU that includes numerous buildings, some of which were built in part or in full with the money he raised:

2003:
