Junior offensive lineman Reggie Bain will miss the upcoming 2016 season after his involvement in a car accident on Friday night, according to an FAU Athletics news release.

According to the release, Bain’s injuries are not being disclosed at this time due to the request of his family. His injuries are not life threatening.

The Miami native, a management major, earned Freshman All-American honors after his 2014 season. Last season he was named to the All-Conference USA second team and was a 2016 preseason member of the All-CUSA team as well.

“I have been in constant contact and have visited with both Reggie and his family,” head football coach Charlie Partridge said in the release. “His FAU football family has surrounded him with support and will continue to do so.”

On Aug. 20, Partridge noted that freshman Tarrick Thomas would be next in line if an injury at the guard position occurred.

“We’ll still have those conversations in the next few days but Tarrick is definitely the next one right now,” he said.

The Owls open their season on Sept. 3 against Southern Illinois University in Boca Raton.
