he Fourth of July is coming up and it is time to find the right place to enjoy food, fireworks and entertainment near you. Luckily there are plenty of events around campus to choose from in the area. Here are a few highlights from the biggest and the best of them.

“Fabulous Fourth” in Boca Raton

Boca Raton

This entirely free event will feature the regular staples of Independence Day celebration like fireworks and food, as well as a new addition this year in Klime Wallz, which are colorful and geometrically weird structures that take rock climbing walls to a whole new level.

Bring your own blankets and snacks, as chairs and food are not provided.

The event will start at 6:30 p.m. with a fireworks display beginning at 9 p.m. A full list of activities and times can be found on the event site.

Independence Day Celebration in Delray Beach

A1A and Atlantic Ave.

Delray Beach

This event takes place throughout Atlantic Avenue, with activities and vendors hosted by businesses on the avenue.

Events will take place from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. all around Atlantic Avenue on Monday. Delray Marketplace is hosting a sand sculpting contest from 8 a.m. to noon (you can sign up here) while live music and other celebrations will begin at 4 p.m.

Local restaurants BurgerFi, Caffe Luna Rosa and Boston’s on the Beach are hosting a sectioned off “beer garden” bar for refreshments. And if you want to get competitive, BurgerFi will also be hosting a burger eating contest. LocalLynx, a local grocery delivery service, will hold a scavenger hunt on the avenue.

Local bands Mainstreet Dreamers and The Holidazed and a performance by Daya, a singer/songwriter from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, rounds out the live entertainment.

Admission to the event is free, as well as activities, games and musical entertainment. Bring money for food and vendor booths, as those are not free.

The event will finish with a fireworks show launching from the north end of the beach at 9 p.m.

Fort Lauderdale Fourth of July Spectacular

Fort Lauderdale Beach

This beach celebration will be set up festival-style with multiple bands and DJs preparing you for the fireworks show later in the night. Bands include Crystal Visions of Fleetwood Mac and Brass Evolutions.

Food and drinks will be available in tents set up by local restaurants, and the rest of the event is free.

The event starts at 4:30 p.m. and closes with fireworks at 9 p.m. The closing fireworks show is a “dazzling pyrotechnic display” and will be simulcast with music from radio station 101.5 LITE FM, according to the event page on the city’s website.

Sunset Cove Amphitheater July Fourth Celebration

Boca Raton

Think watered-down carnival with this event which features food and dessert trucks as well as roving entertainment. Jugglers, caricature and temporary tattoo artists will be wandering around looking to entertain and make some good tips.  

Guests are encouraged to bring their own beach chairs and blankets, and pets are not permitted. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, with fireworks starting at 9 p.m.

Family Fun Independence Day

Pine Island Park, 3801 S. Pine Island Rd.

Davie

This event takes place at a community park, so sports and swimming will be a large part of the festivities in this family-oriented celebration.

The Davie Fire Department will also be present and will spray down willing crowd members with foam. So if you want to spend the bulk of your night soaking wet, this is the event for you.

There will be food trucks and free cake for Davie residents.

Activities start at 10 a.m. and will continue until the fireworks show at 9 p.m.

All-American Block Party

200 N. U.S. Highway 1

Jupiter

This event is a huge family block party. There will be a wealth of food and activities like potato sack races and water slides. The biggest draw for this event are the Water Flying Performances. The details on the performances were very scarce, but water flying just sounds like an all-around good time.

The party starts at 2 p.m. and will carry on until 9 p.m., concluding, like the rest of the events, with a fireworks show.
