An unfortunate wake up call hit Night Owl frequenters as news spread of the local college bar’s closing on Sunday, June 14.

After hosting a “Sunday Funday,” the establishment closed its doors and will remain closed for at least two months, according to former FAU student and Night Owl employee Johnathan Ragoo, who has worked there since its opening.

Ragoo was unsure of the reason why; Night Owl management could not be reached for comment by publication time.

The UP reported on Night Owl’s opening back in 2013. Then-managing partner Mike Minot said, “The biggest thing we’d like to stress is that our biggest goal is to grow with FAU and the Boca Raton community and bring something to them that they don’t really have in this town.”

Offering tributes to the university with a “signature red sauce,” “‘blue’ blue cheese” and even a drink called the Blue Wave – after the FAU baseball team’s former name – the bar quickly became a staple among the community.

Students and patrons of the lounge shared their thoughts of the news on social media.
