With copious amounts of sideboob, toned booty and long legs, Fashion Forward bared it all during their fashion show on the night of April 14, in the Grand Palm room.

The show opened at 8 p.m. to a crowd of approximately 60 students and guests. The energetic hosts, Edwin Jean Baptise and Bri “Breezy” Harris, took over the stage, trying to keep the crowd excited.

The panel of judges consisted of Fashion Forward’s advisors – Parish Dove, Sherrika Michel and Rachel Decker – who judged each collection on a 20-point system. Competitors could earn up to 10 points each for creativity and practicality.

For the first segment, the show produced “Exotic Swimwear” by Chatel, along with “Risqué Duke Swim Apparel” by Risqué Duke. There was no shortage of skin showing for the majority of the looks, but some were more reserved as they presented the high-waisted swim bottom trend along with backless, high-cut one pieces.

Other categories included Urban-wear and Ready-to-Wear, featuring “Royal Fudge Boutique,” “Vision Nationwide” by Benjamin and Bonez, “Eminent by Buera” and “De’zair.”

“Vision Nationwide” was very Kanye West-esque, with a lot of black-on-black ensembles and layering of different materials. “Royal Fudge Boutique” and “Eminent by Buera” featured a lot of bold patterns and a wide range of colors.

Trends including culottes and two-piece sets were even seen throughout the night.

“De’zair” was a particularly important collection. Supporting sickle cell anemia research, the male models donned shirts stating facts about the disease. Kevenique Allen, the designer, also made a speech about the importance of raising awareness for the disease and how she raises money for a non-profit.

The night also included a special performance from Miss Broward County County USA 2015 Morissa, who impressed the crowd with an original song.

By the end of the night, the crowd had shrunk drastically, but the winners had yet to be announced. After a little more interaction with those who stuck around, Baptise and Harris announced the winners of each set – “Risqué Duke Swim Apparel,” the Bonez portion of “Vision Nationwide” and “De-zair” were the winners.

“I feel like the show was awesome. As you may know, this is Fashion Forward’s second year on campus as a student organization,” said Fashion Forward President Jessie Ponder. “Although we ran into countless speed bumps, from designers dropping out of the show at the last minute to the hair stylists never showing up, my E[xecutive]-Board and I always found a way to overcome our obstacles.”

He continued, “All the hard work Fashion Forward’s E-Board, members and the other models put into this show definitely showed last night. There were also great contributions from Club Infinity, our Vice President Shania Fair, as well as our historian Jonathan Lugo. But, there is definitely room for improvement! Next year, Fashion Forward’s Spring Show will be bigger and better.”
