2015 FAU Dance Showcase: A song and a lot of dance

FAU Dance presented its 2015 Showcase at The Burrow as a sendoff to compete in Nationals.

Last night, the Florida Atlantic Dance Team, led by coach Lisa Snowden, presented its 2015 showcase at the FAU Arena.

The team that danced a wide variety of styles including hip-hop, contemporary, jazz and tap at the event will be heading to nationals to compete in Division 1A Hip-Hop.

After a 20-minute delay, the event began to a crowd of approximately 150 family members, friends and fellow Owls.

Donning dark, smoky eye makeup and bright red lips, all of the dancers had their time to shine.

In addition to several group performances, there were several solo and duo acts to songs ranging from Etta James to Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé.

There was even a sultry, burlesque musical performance by senior dancer Jenna Damiano, who gave a her rendition of “Guy What Takes His Time” by Christina Aguilera.

All of the dances contained original choreography from the team members and all were given a warm reception from the audience.

The FAU Cheer squad showed up for support and to entertain the audience with tumbling and group cheer routines in between dance numbers.

At the end of the program, the dancers performed their round one and round two competition routines.

When asked about her team and their road to nationals, coach Snowden said, “It’s definitely emotional seeing how much hard work and dedication they put in. They have their regularly scheduled practices and it’s just honestly an emotional rollercoaster, but it is the best time of your life.They’re already winners in my book.”
