Three star basketball recruit CJ Turman taking weekend visit to FAU

New basketball coach MIchael Curry is hitting the recruiting trail hard and finding players he thinks he will need to succeed.

CJ Turman, a three star basketball recruit out of Morgan County HIgh School in Madison, Georgia will visit Boca Raton this upcoming weekend on a recruiting trip.

In his introductory press conference, Curry said he wants players that can dominate in the paint, meaning efficient scoring in the post and around the basket. Turman, a 6 foot 9 forward, is one of the top power forward recruits in the nation.

He was recently released from his National Letter of Intent after former UT head coach, Cuonzo Martin, left the University of Tennessee and took a new job at the University of California.

A National Letter of Intent is when a player signs a scholarship contract to play for a specific university. An athlete can be released from his NLI if the coach that recruited him accepts another job offer or is fired.

According to Dieter Kurtenbach of the Sun Sentinel, Turman’s high school coach — who goes by the name Charlemagne Gibbons — is a candidate for an assistant coaching position under Curry.

In his introductory press conference, FAU Coach Michael Curry said he wants players that can dominate in the paint.

FAU has also has commitments from Maceo Baston and Traevis Graham. Baston, a shooting guard, is the first recruit to commit under head coach Curry. Graham, a small forward, signed under former head basketball coach MIke Jarvis but is honoring his commitment to the university.
