FAU women’s tennis remains winless this year.

Playing dual matches, the Owls were shut out 7-0 by UCF at Patch Reef Park on Saturday afternoon.

FAU was similarly blanked by the University of Miami in its season-opening match on January 11.

The repeat result didn’t sit well with Owls coach Marcy Hora-Cava.

“Beating UCF has been one of my top goals since I began coaching at FAU,” Hora-Cava said. “So it definitely doesn’t feel good.”

Putting the past in the past, Hora-Cava is intent on moving forward in a positive manner.

“We had some opportunities that I wish we took advantage of but we learned from our mistakes,” Hora-Cava said. “This week we are going to focus on getting some of my ladies healthy, as we have a few injuries, and our upcoming match against FGCU.”

The Owls return to the court against Florida Gulf Coast University on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 12 p.m.
